4 Steps to Better Airflow and Comfort in Jurupa Valley, CA

Most people think that an air conditioner’s sole purpose is to keep your home interior cool. But a properly functioning AC system can do much more than that. It also plays a key role in regulating indoor air quality and controlling airflow. Here are four tips to optimize the airflow in your Jurupa Valley, CA, home this summer:

Open Doors and Windows

Open your doors and windows. This will allow air to flow more easily throughout your home and also bring in fresh air from the outdoors. Keep in mind, however, that this tip is most effective when the pollen count outside is low and the weather is dry and not excessively hot.

Dust and Clean Your Air Vents

When an AC system has been in use for a long time, dust and other pollutants tend to accumulate on your vents. As air flows through your system, it can easily push these pollutants through your house and cause you to breathe them in unwittingly. To prevent this, you should clean and dust your vents at least every year or so.

To do this, unscrew each vent covering from the wall or ceiling to which it is attached and gently pass over it with a duster until you remove all the accumulated dust. If the vent grill is especially dirty, you may want to place it into a bucket of soapy water and clean it with a brush. After this, dry the cover off with a towel and reinstall it.

Buy a House Fan

Even a simple house fan can help to circulate air more effectively indoors, but an exhaust fan is an even better option for places like the bathroom or kitchen. If you have ceiling fans in your house, remember to ensure they circulate counterclockwise during the summer months.

Schedule an AC Maintenance Appointment
